The 13th of June saw SEQUENTIAL Gaming compete among the top 8 teams from an original 32 set of qualifiers on a CyberGamer ladder, these final rounds were played out at the CyberGamer MSi Counter-Strike:Source Championships. The event featured a double-elimination system and was played out over the whole day at Sydney's Beyond Internet & Gaming Netcafe on bays of decked out MSi/AMD gaming computers. At the end of the day the team from Sequential emerged victorious, despite only being 2nd seed from qualifying rounds (just behind Archaic E-Sports), winning the $2,500 first place prize. Sequential enjoy an undefeated winning streak until the grand finals in which one of their two lives was taken out by an impressive performance from the formidable Archaic E-Sports. Regardless, using their hard earned second life Sequential were able to overcome Archaic and defeat them in the second round.
SEQUENTIAL Gaming's CS:S Team for MSi:
Iain "Snyper" Turner Ben "GaMeKiLLeR" Burridge Devin "Shadzke" Carter Chris "Emagine" Rowlands Luke "Havoc" Paton
The progression of scores for the Sequential team were as follows for the event:
Round 1 (de_train): Sequential 16 - 4 Exile5
Despite losing both pistol rounds, Sequential displayed superb teamwork which resulted in a swift victory for the first round of the MSi Championships. Of particular note was Havoc's performance in a 1v2 scenario, managing to plant the bomb and dispatch the remaining 2 CT's on Exile5, securing an important early win in the match.
Round 2 (de_dust2): Sequential 16 - 11 Team Immunity
A close first half often going round for round, impressive teamwork and a high standard of skill displayed by Sequential saw them hold a clear lead for the whole match. A score set at 9-6 in favour of Sequential at half time, iM were never given a chance for a come back as Sequential achieved their second win, progressing to the third round.
A heated match of great intensity, both teams were not afraid of letting the other team know how they were feeling with many instances of heckling and banter throughout the match. A strong start from Sequential as they secured 3 wins playing on T-side, Archaic responded with a series of rounds unrelenting in defense and showed an all round impressive display of Counter-Strike gameplay. However, Sequential didn't give up and fought their way back to victory and hence making it to the grand finals with a life to spare.
Winning the prelimenary knife round, Sequential chose to pick sides starting as Terrorists and hence Archaic got to pick the map and decided to fight the first round of the finals on de_dust2. In a huge effort, Archaic displayed excellent teamwork and defence of bombsites during the first half of the round ending with a score of 14-1 in Archaic favour at half time. Never giving up and providing a challenge for Archaic playing T-side, Sequential's fighting spirit never faded, bringing the score to 16-11 with a win for Archaic. Of particular mention this round was the performance from Snyper, getting 3 down in the first half while pushing B-site in a 1v5 situation and achieving another 3 down during the all important pistol round of the 2nd half. Also worthy of mention was a monstrous play from Emagine which saw him win a round in the 2nd half coming out victorious from a 1v3 situation and with enough time left over to difuse the bomb aswell.
Forced to use their second life due to an extraordinary performance from Archaic on de_dust2, Da Man from Gamestah expressed that his next round is "Going to go down as one of the better games of source played in this season". Sequential and Archaic defenitely were not to dissapoint, displaying an all round high standard of CS:S gameplay from every member of each team. With a score of 10 - 5 with Archaic in the lead at half time Sequential never lost their form and proceeded to win 10 straight wins on CT-side and to eventually win the finals with a score of 16 - 13 over Archaic. Of particular mention is GaMeKiLLeR as in this Round 2 of the Grand Finals he managed to pull off a round winning headshot with the deagle while on a mere 3 hp, a ninja defuse through the commendable use of flashbang grenades in a 2v1 situation and in the finals winning round managed to take down 3 of the boys from Archaic by himself and still defuse the bomb winning the round and the Grand Finals for Sequential!
Well done lads! We look forward to next time!

Sequential CSS depart for MSI Counterstrike Championships
SEQUENTIAL Gaming is eager to be competing in the MSI Counterstrike Source Finals this June long weekend with the top 8 teams from around Australia selected.
The format was held over 32 teams registering and split up into 8 groups. The top team of each group got a auto-birth to Sydney Australia to compete in the MSI Finals.
SEQUENTIAL Gaming are very excited to be competing amongst such strong competition in their first proper LAN as a team since they formed just over a month ago.
The lineup consists of:
Iain “Snyper” Turner (Captain) Ben “KilleR” Burridge Chris “emagine” Rowlands Devin “shadzke” Carter Luke “Havoc” Paton
The preparation for the finals has been a bit shaky with players working commitments, however the team will be gearing up to practice at LAN, prior to the event. The LAN history of most these players is outstanding with amazing individual achievements held most majority of the players.
The team is really looking forward to the weekend and Sequential wish them the best of luck!
SEQUENTIAL Gaming is excited to announce the dawn of a new era with the return of many familiar faces and the introduction of many new ones.
After recently losing our premier Counter-Strike: Source Squad to fellow Australian Multi-Gaming Organisation: Archaic E-Sports, SEQUENTIAL Management set about thinking of ways to move our organisation forward into the future, or whether SQL's time was actually up.
With limited CSS options on the table, we were excited when we were approached by several key figures of SQL’s past, looking to return and contribute as they had always promised they would.
SEQUENTIAL Gaming is not only proud but very excited to announce the new SQL.CSS Line-up as follows:
Iain “Snyper” Turner (Captain) Ben “KilleR” Burridge Chris “emagine” Rowlands Devin “shadzke” Carter Luke “Havoc” Paton
With 4 of the core 5 being a part of SQL’s history in the past, it is very exciting to welcome one of Australia’s top players in Chris “emagine” Rowlands and we hope that he enjoys his stay.
For the other 4, we are thrilled to have them back under the SQL Banner. Each of them have made an important contribution in the past, most notably Snyper, Killer and Shadzke.
In the past week, the team has undergone some criticism since embarking on their own with Check-Point E-Sports. It must be said that SQL had no involvement in the construction of this team and we were in fact thoroughly happy with our previous line-up and very reluctant, but understanding to see them go.
Whilst we never wish for any team to be misled, abused or destroyed, we must all recognise that only 5 days ago, SQL was financially assisting a team and planning for the future with them, only to have that opportunity removed.
We are excited at this new opportunity and what it means for SEQUENTIAL, as well as the prospect of seeing what is on paper one of the best line-ups SQL has seen flourish, not only on the Australian Scene, but potentially on the International Scene as well.
Iain “Snyper” Turner had the following to say about his return to SEQUENTIAL and the formation of his team:
“It’s great to be back with SQL. SQL has always felt like a second home to me and a place where a lot of mutual respect was shown. It really just feels like we’ve been away on an extended holiday.
All the pieces have fallen in to place, I wasn't expecting to get a line-up of this calibre but I guess it was meant to be. This team has every base covered, from aim to support in-game and mate-ship out of game, I couldn't be happier and I think the same goes for the others.”
One of the most exciting things about this move is the ability to combine some of the staff and management Check-Point had envisaged they would use for the future.
Whilst in certain areas their experience was lacking. The drive, focus and determination of this core team is something that thoroughly excites existing SQL Management and we are thoroughly looking forward to working with them towards the short and long term future of our Organisation.
We would like to introduce to you several new key figures onto the SQL Management & Staff Team including:
Tyrone “kiP” Mitchell – Management Tim “defcoN” E – Staff Writer Christoph "ZeeBOB" Berthoud - Technical Support Henry "Ponco" Chladil - Assistant Graphics & Media
SEQUENTIAL Management wished to release the following statement regarding the Organisation changes:
“When we lost our previous team we really were concerned as to the path we should take forward, with no real team or opportunity jumping out at us. We are thrilled that Iain and Ben came and spoke to us and the offer that was placed on the table. This line-up is amongst the best on paper that we have seen and under the leadership of Iain, we have no doubt they will be one of our most successful.
We are excited at the prospect of working with a new and energised manager in Tyrone. He possesses the skills and dedicated worthy of one day being a successor within SQL. It will be fantastic to work with the rest of the staff members to pull SQL back on track and move forward in leaps and bounds.
We are excited for the rest of 2010 and beyond.”
We wish our previous line-up all the best at Archaic E-Sports. We have a large amount of respect for your dedication, loyalty and maturity. We know that your decision was not easy and we support you in your aspirations to get overseas.
Good luck to the new SQL.CSS line-up in the upcoming MSi Competition, you will see them practising extremely hard over the next 4-5 weeks to ensure that the best possible result is achieved in Sydney on the 13th June, 2010 – granted a successful online qualifying campaign.

The SEQUENTIAL Gaming Counter-Strike: Source team has continued to exceed expectations by winning both the CyberGamer Invite League as well as the Queensland Leg of the Western Digital State of Origin Series.
The SQL lineup enjoyed a confident win over a strong and experienced Exile-5 lineup in Semi-Final - 16-9 on de_inferno and 16-12 on de_nuke to qualify for the CyberGamer Invite Grand Final.
In the Grand Final, the dynamic lineup faced the highly regarded Team Immunity possessing a lineup that has been at the top of Australian CSS for the past 12-18 months. The SQL.CSS had beaten the iM lineup twice already throughout the CG-I and CEVO-P seasons and were hopeful that this streak would continue.
Destined to enforce their dominance over the entire season, SQL took the final and the $2000 prize money with a well executed, precise victory - 16-6 on de_nuke and 16-10 on de_dust2.
Michael "Snakew0w" Hall had the following to say about the win:
"The boys are extremely happy with the win. We feel we have been the best team all season and this not only shows the community that we mean business, but it proves to ourselves that we really can be the No. 1 team in Australia and hold that title for a long time to come. Huge thanks to CyberGamer for a well run competition and Creative for supporting them."
SEQUENTIAL Management is extremely proud of the team and wishes to formally congratulate them on their fantastic season!
In other news, the team has also won the QLD Qualifer for the Western Digital sponsored State of Origin series over the weekend.
The competition will hopefully prove to be a pivotal warmup to the CEVO-Professional Grand Final this week, also against Team Immunity.
With an eye on the $2250 & 5 WD HDD's prize, the team is very much looking forward to competing in the State of Origin Finals Series scheduled for approx. June 6th, 2010 and an opportunity to extend their winning streak.
The lineup is as follows:
Todd “Geronimo” Henderson (C) Mike “SnakewOw” Hall Christian “digz” Cheung Josh “PaDz” Le Plastrier Aaron “sai” Ward
SEQUENTIAL Management would again like to send our thanks to the squad for their on going contribution to our organisation and wishes them all the best in their upcoming campaigns!

The past 12 months has seen Quake rise to new levels with the introduction of “QuakeLive” previously known as Quake Zero. A game based directly off the Quake 3 Arena engine with some changes most notably being played in a web browser making it very user friendly. Other elements include enhanced graphics and game play elements such as faster rockets and less rail gun damage. QuakeLive is now the primary quake game played at some of the world’s largest gaming tournaments and has seen enormous growth within Australia in such a short period of time.
With this in my mind Sequential Gaming has decided to expand its organisation with the inclusion of QuakeLive to its illustrious list of sponsored games. It has selected Brisbane based Quaker Timothy “zlr” Shey to lead the charge for Sequential Gaming with fellow Queenslander David “ZenAku” Addati. zlr has proven himself as one of Australia’s best Quake Dueller’s for a number of years now having taken out WGT’s Quake 4Tournament two years running in ’07 and ’08. He has already proven himself in QuakeLive with wins in Premium Gamers Duel Comp and has reached the final of 4Seasons Gaming’s Duel comp to be played this upcoming Sunday.
On the contrast we have ZenAku a new up and coming dueller to the Quake scene who started playing when QuakeLive closed beta was released in January last year. He has proven that skill can be just as important as experience when he placed No.1 in the 4Seasons Gaming Autumn Competition and the First Nome Cup.
Sequential Gaming is delighted to have these two talented Quake duellers on board and look forward to seeing them compete in Australia’s upcoming competitions.

SQL takes down Pvt. Preston - BC2 Feature - PIMP.TV
SQL takes down Pvt. Preston - BC2 Feature - PIMP.TV
Managing Director, Nathan "Nateus" Walton, was recently approached to be part of a Battlefield Bad Company 2 release video, filmed and premiered on our partner "PIMP.TV"'s website.
Filmed over 2 days in Adelaide, Nathan showcased a wide range of acting skills and impromptu lines that earnt him a lot of respect and a potential role on a local South Australian soapy.
SEQUENTIAL Gaming is incredibly excited to see huge growth in what will no doubt be one of the largest, if not THE largest games of the year. We're completely behind the CyberGamer League announced today and look forward to seeing that up and running.
SQL Management would like to extend a special thanks to Aron, Luke and Sam at PIMP.TV not to mention the gorgeous ladies, Christina and Janna - Nathan had a fantastic time working with you guys over the past few days and look forward to forming a strong friendship and working together in the future!
ENJOY!
p.s. watching the ending, R.I.P Nateus
